Arracourt

old postcards and a general view
submitted by M. Gérard Griffaton from Lorraine

I have inserted this arrow pointing towards the cemetery of this village with the intention
to show how small this cemetery is - something that has struck me while visiting it in 2001.
The explanation is simple: each family has got a place reserved there, for centuries.
Our cemeteries in the Banat are larger, for two reasons:

- land was freely available
- a lot of migration took place there during the last two and a half centuries

whereas in Arracourt the names on the gravestones are still Griffaton, Damas, Lefort, etc.
