This monument has been erected by the community of Triebswetter to
honour the memory of its sons fallen in the battles of World War I.
The
wreath in the hand of the woman is in fact a null. This stands as
well for the chances of our fallen in World War II, whose names have
been ulteriorly added, not even in alphabetical order - thus heralding
the logic of new world orders to come.
Some of those fallen during WW II have been enrolled to the German
army, others to the Romanian army - so, shortly before the end, these
brothers have found themselves in the position of having to fight
against each other.
This leads me to the conclusion that
a memorial is something trying to give a touch of seriosity to an
otherwise unserious world.
That's what our village memorial tries to do.
It is the work of the sculptors Sipos and Galas of Temeswar (by then
Timisoara) and it has been inaugurated on Oct. 30, 1922.
